Molo is a sandy beach located in the province of Bari, which is situated in the Ofanto river basin.
This basin consists of the Ofanto river and its tributaries, including Marana Capacciotti and Torrente Locone. The Ofanto river has a strong torrential regime, which results in significant floods during autumn and winter due to heavy rainfall, while the river experiences very low flows during the summer months. The region is primarily used for agricultural purposes. In the southernmost part of the basin, there are commercial and industrial settlements due to the presence of the urban center of Barletta. The main sources of pollution that could have an impact on the quality of bathing water are linked to anthropic activities associated with agricultural land use.
